WMC High School Project Graduation Activities, Check them out
Wednesday, 31 March 2010
A note from the West Morris Central High School Project Graduation Team...
Project Graduation is an event held each year on the night of graduation at schools all over this country. It is to give the graduating seniors a great finale to their high school years one last time with their friends in a totally fun, safe and alcohol and drug-free environment. It began in Oxford Hills, Maine, in 1980, the result of community energies empowered through a state initiative after it was becoming all too common for tragedies to occur on graduation night. It is a national effort and has long since been recognized as a prototype, helping to protect the lives of graduating seniors in all 50 states. The event itself is run by a committee of hard working parents in each high school with the support their school board and school administration.
Providing this kind of celebration for every graduate is a very costly event as you can imagine. A percentage of the bottom line costs are paid for by each participating student. The balance is paid by Project Graduation fundraisers and events throughout the year. At our high school, West Morris Central, these events are run by parents involved in the PTTO (similar to a PTO). As a middle school parent, you may want to consider supporting one or more of these fundraisers. The Project Graduation fund is an ongoing fund, so supporting Project Graduation fundraisers now, as parents of middle school students, will grow the fund and serve to keep the individual student cost of Project Graduation to a minimum year after year.
There are many new and interesting Project Graduation fundraisers coming up in the near future. They are described in the flyers attached to this note. Please take a look at the flyers and get involved, or have your children get involved, in these worthwhile and fun activities. Two such events are:
1.Send Out Cards - This fundraiser is critical to our success. All you need to do is buy the software and Send Out Cards gives you access to over 15,000 cards. You create an address book and Send Out Cards does the rest for you including signing the cards, stamping them and mailing them. It is a Post Office and Hallmark combined into one! Please see the attached flyer for info and to get started sending beautiful cards from your pc! Send Out Cards Service
2. Graduation Signs - Do you want to announce to the world your 8th grader is graduating? Why not do it with a graduation sign? They can be generic or you can have your child's name put on it. Please see the attached flyer: Graduation Signs.
Visit www.labelsforeducation.com for a complete list of eligible products and point values.
Help multiply our efforts by asking your friends and family to collect UPC's on behalf of our
school.
If you have any questions, or would like to help with our Labels for Education collection drive,
please contact our program coordinator Kathy Roman at 908-391-2055.
Thanks so much for your support. Together with Campbell's Labels for Education — we can
build a better school for our children.
